Art for Feet
The goal of Project 100% Local is to create a sandal using materials available locally.  In this project
we hope to eliminate the shipment of materials to our manufacturing facility.  This challenging project
has us looking at local waste products in a new light in hopes of identifying materials and processes
that can be used to create sandals from our own backyard.

9.24.08 UPDATE
The goal of using 100% local materials has proved to be a huge challenge.  For Spring 2009 we'll
be offering direct on the internet sandals that have 60% recycled content by weight.  We're 40% shy
of the goal, but happy with how far we've come.   Here's the first pair available direct on the internet.
They're a "Medium" which is a women's 7/8.
Recycled Sandal content:

Upper:        reclaimed fabric
Shank:        kitty litter box
Sole:           Used bike tires
Price:          $40.00+shipping
These sandals can be "Tri-cycled" as:
  1. Door wedges
  2. Paperweights (washing before deployment
    highly recommended).
  3. Dog chew toy
  4. Pen security (with a little duct tape you can
affix the sandal to a pen and make sure
everyone really knows the pen is yours).
  5. Conversation stopper (the sandals are pretty
soft and will only sting a little bit even if thrown
    really hard).
  6. Sandal tag
  7. Other...send your idea to info@vezsandal.com .
